Who this is for

Adults aged 18 or older with stable, standardized serum creatinine. Not valid during pregnancy.

How it works

eGFR = 142 × min(SCr/κ,1)^α × max(SCr/κ,1)^−1.200 × 0.9938^age × 1.012 (female only). κ=0.7/0.9 and α=−0.241/−0.302 for female/male. SCr is mg/dL; convert µmol/L by dividing by 88.4. Result is indexed to 1.73 m².

Keep in mind

No kidney-disease stage, diagnosis or medication dose is produced. A single result cannot establish chronic kidney disease.
Rapid creatinine changes, unusual muscle mass, amputation and some medicines alter accuracy. Combined cystatin C–creatinine estimates may be preferred.
